Cannes Film Festival is just days away!

We are less than a week away now from the Cannes Film Festival!

With the Festival just days away, we thought it'd be a great moment to look at some unusual facts and mindboggling figures about the Cannes Film Festival!

1. Just 48 hours into the inaugural Cannes Film Festival of 1939, the event was swiftly halted due to the commencement of World War Two. The festival returned in 1946, and we've been celebrating cinema ever since!

2. 2160m is the total length of red carpet used during the Cannes Film Festival! A 60m red carpet is laid every for every movie screening, so that's 3 times a day, over 12 days!

3. The Cannes Film Festival is one of the widely covered events in the world, highlighted by the festival being second only to the Summer Olympics as the most covered global event in 2016, with over 4,000 journalists and photographers attending.

4. The 'Palme' awards given to the winners in the competition are some of the most expensive awards in the world - the leaves of the palm are cast in 24-carat gold, and each award costs $21,000 to make.

5. There has only ever been one female winner of the Palme d'Or, the most prestigious prize in the competition: Jane Campion scooped the award in 1993 for her work 'The Piano'.

6. On average, a yacht costs $570,000 per week at the Cannes Film Festival... we think renting one of our magnificent villas at Riviera Luxury Rentals is a much better idea!

We hope all attendees are looking forward to the event and have a great time! If you are looking for last minute accommodation, give us a call on +33493999675, or send me an email at!
